I am really proud with my art because I worked really hard on it and I think it looks really good. I had success in my background because I found it really easy. The biggest challenge I had was doing all the patterns I found it really hard because I had to try and get all the patterns right and couldn’t do any mistakes. So those were mainly all my challenges and success. I hope you like my art because I spent a really long time on it.

Mr G is not your normal principal, he is one of the most cheerful principals you’d ever meet. Come on down to Parkvale School and you will be in for a treat. If you see Mr G walking down any path at our school, he’ll make you feel welcome.

CAMERON BUDGE

Cameron Budge is my drumming teacher.When I go for my lesson he walks around the room (lounge) and teaches me what to do. He has been drumming since he was 9 years old and has a wife and two sons.He loves to play the drums he is very cool and he is really understanding.He loves drumming like I do.

He is always kind and nice and he is letting me call him want ever I want so I’m calling him Cam.Tomorrow was my drumming lesson but he has gone away for a holiday so I have him next week.

He is helpful and friendly.He picks up the drumsticks he also has his own drum kit as well. We both have a duet together on the 2nd of December 2015 in the cabana.

He is the best drummer teacher I have ever had.

MATHS T4 W4

 I am blogging this because...I have put my personal best in to it.

We were learning about...how much things wade like leaves and water.

Hi, this was our maths task we had to do.

We had to go outside and get some leaves or other thing to fill it.

There are 102 leaves in there. It took 1 minute to fill up the jar.

We couldn’t work out how heavy it was. It felt the same so they must be light.

this is our maths task we had to do.

this jar can carry 4/4 of a cup to fill the whole.

I am blogging this because...I am really proud of the work that I have done.
We were learning about...the rugby world cup. The country that I chose to do for this task was Scotland. I learnt that the national animal for Scotland was a Unicorn, the national food was Haggis and the national symbol was a thistle. I really enjoyed learning all these different things.

My Mosaic Poppy Art

My poppy art

My art is called Mosaic Poppy Art.

It's a picture of a poppy created out of glass tiles.
I wanted to do a mosaic picture as I have never done this before but it looks really great. I wanted to do a poppy flower because the poppy is really important to me. Both my great-grandfathers were in the war. I have been to the last 4 ANZAC parades and have worn my great-grandfathers dress medals at each of them.

To make this mosaic art, I used a black painted wooden base, black tiles (60), green tiles (5), red tiles  (77) and dark grey grout. 

I first found a poppy pattern on the internet and traced this onto the wooden backing board that I painted black. Next I arranged my tiles to fit the pattern and glued each one onto the board. When the glue had dried, I put the grey grout into the gaps and smoothed it with my granddad's special grouting tools and a sponge. When the grout was really dry, I polished it with a clean rag.

My biggest challenge was to find something that the tiles would stick onto. First I used a piece of plastic board but the glue did not stick so my dad had to cut me a piece of wood with his saw. It was  hard getting the pattern right, but before I glued them I moved them around to make sure they were in the right place.

I really loved doing this mosaic art as it challenged me - I have never done any mosaic art before. I really loved the poppy design and I can't wait to do another one with the left over tiles that I have.

MY ART

For my art I am going to do a mosaic poppy. I love the poppy and saw so many of them at the Te Papa Museum in the Gallipoli exhibit recently. I am really excited about this and it will challenge me.

This is a rough draft of my art. The black background area will be covered with black tiles (and the centre of the flower), the red part of the poppy will be covered with red tiles and the green area of the stalk will be covered with green tiles.

I asked mum to take me to the Tile Warehouse to do some research on my mosaic art and the lady there asked me what I wanted to do. After I had told her, she gave me a huge box of mosaic glass tiles in all different colours, shapes and sizes that she no longer needed and said I could have them all. She also got her husband to cut me an  A3 size of black backing board as this is what they display their tiles on and had heaps spare.

The only materials that I now need are Extra Strength PVA glue (which we have at home), pencils and a ruler. I might need some black grout (which my granddad has at his place) once my tiles are stuck onto the backing board, but the lady at the tile warehouse told me to wait until I had finished gluing on my tiles as it might not be needed. She said that this is the only part that I might need an adult.

Write a list of steps to take.

STEPS

1. Draw lines on the backing board the size of the tiles, so that I can get a straight line for each row of the background tiles.
2. Draw an outline of the poppy flower that I found on the internet on the backing board.
3. Arrange my tiles on the backing board, I will put the red ones round the inside of the poppy flower outline and then place the black centre tiles and then fill the rest in (this will take a while as the tiles need to be in the right place before gluing).
4. I will take a photo of the tiles just sitting on the board so I can look at it when I am gluing the tiles on. I need to make sure they are where I want them as I cant move them when they on with glue.
5. I will count how many tiles I need for the each part of the art, black part, flower, centre bit and stem.
6. I will glue the tiles in their place on the backing board, one tile at a time.
7. Once I have finished gluing the tiles on the backing board I will have a look and see how it looks. If the gaps are too big, I might have to put some black grout in them. For this part, I might need some adult supervision.
8. If I need to add grout, I will have to wipe off the excess grout with a damp cloth and let it set hard.
9. This will be the end of my finished art piece.

Rosie's Maths W6 T3

I am blogging this because...I have done my personal best with this graph.I took my time and made sure I got it right.
We were learning about...how to draw a bar graph and what it needed.I made up three titles -  one was a main title for the graph and the others were titles for the side data and the bottom data. I put the information in order - Train 20, Walk 40, Bicycle 60, Car 80 and Bus 100. From this graph I learnt that Train was the least way students went to school and Bus was the most popular mode of transport to school.

I am blogging this because...It is my personal best writing that I have ever done and I am really proud of myself.

We were learning about...Lorde-who she is and how she has become a famous singer,songwriter and musician. I have learnt a lot about Lorde as I have been researching for my writing.

LORDE

Who is she?

Lorde is the stage name for Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O’Connor who is a world famous New Zealand singer, songwriter and musician. Her first major song was Royals and she has since recorded many other songs. She has produced 3 albums - Pure Heroine, The Love Club EP and Live in Concert.

Early life

Lorde was born on the 7th of November 1996 in Takapuna, Auckland. She is one of 4 children - she has one brother called Anglo and two sisters called India and Jenny. Her mum’s name is Sonja Yelich and her dad’s name is Vic O’Connor.

She was raised in Devonport which is a suburb of Auckland. She went to Vauxhall primary school and moved onto Belmont Intermediate school. From an early age, Lorde had a love for drama and books and she started drama when she was just 5 years old.

When Lorde went to Belmont Intermediate School there was a annual talent show. Louis McDonald and Lorde won the talent show and they got to sing on the radio. This was the start of Lorde’s career with music.

Art Fame

Lorde needed a stage name in order to perform. Since she has always loved the Royal Family, she decided her stage name would be Lord, however this sounded too masculine for her, so she added the ‘e’ on the end to become Lorde.

Her song Royals went straight to the top of the charts - and she became the youngest New Zealander ever to win at the world’s biggest music awards - the Grammy Awards. She was just 17 years at the time. In 2013 Lorde’s cover version of the Tears for Fears single was included on the Hunger Games: Catching Fire film soundtrack.

Other Successes and Awards

Since Lorde became a success in the music scene, she has received many nominations around the world. She has had nominations in the Golden Globes USA, ARIA Music Awards, Awards Circuit Community Awards, Brit Awards, Broadcast Film Critics Association Awards, Grammy Awards, MTV Music Video Awards, People's Choice Awards, USA, Teen Choice Awards and iHeartRadio Awards.

She has won many awards including:  

The Brit Awards in 2014 for International Female Solo Artist.

Lorde has also received nominations in the Billboard Music Awards. These awards are held to honour artists for their performance in the US, based on record charts published by Billboard. Lorde has won two awards from 14 nominations - New Artist of the Year and Top Rock Song 2014.

Conclusion (Future)

In a statement from the New Zealand Prime Minister, John Key, he said “Lorde is a phenomenal talent and an inspiration to all young New Zealanders, her success today has made us all very proud”.

As well as composing songs for herself, Lorde is now starting to write music as soundtracks for movies. She has signed a deal with Songs Music Publishing and is currently working on her latest album.

Yesterday I went to my Nanna and Granddads they are having a platform on there grass that has began pulled out and they have pavement on the sment and while I was there I saw a dog called LACE and I love dogs.Gess what I steped on the platform and I saw LACE.She is black and yellow dog.Do you know that

LACE can give you a hive five and lots of ather trix.Do you know she is a hunterway just like her dad.

I am blogging this because...I completed it and I felt happy.

I was learning...That we need to put our rubbish in the bin or the bird will come and get the rubbish for its nest.

Picking Up Rubbish

What had the bird used to build it’s nest? (choose 3)2 Magpie feathers,1 pretty rosella,7 Lump of horse hair.

How is the sparrow helpful?It takes the rubbish to its nest to keep its egg warm.

How can we help the sparrow?We need to put our rubbish in the bin so the sparrow can not get the rubbish.

I love the Poppy Flower and so I am going to be making a Mosaic Poppy Flower. To write my plan, I went to the Tile Warehouse with my Mum to learn about how to make a tile mosaic. I can't wait to get started on my project.
